Poppies Galour

Published March 23, 2018 | By Helen

With the centenary of the end of the first world war, coming up on the 11th November 2018, poppies are on the mind of a few people this year, like the Bridstow spinners of Ross on wye, are busy stringing together piles of textile poppies, donated by thousands of knitters and fiber fans from all over the UK and Abroad. So far over 40,000 poppies have been sent, in support of a appeal by wonderwool of wales, in which the donated poppies will be strung out and displayed at Hall 3 at the Royal Welsh Show Ground at Builth Wells on the 28th and 29th April. So we say to the Bridstow spinners carry on stringing.

Also at the moment as mentioned in a previous post,  The weeping window by artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom piper is on display at the Hereford Cathedral  from the 14th march to the 29th April, which is well worth a visit.
