Hay History Weekend |Hay castle| |September 11-13|

Hay History Weekend 2015 will take place on Sep 11th, 12th & 13th Sep at Hay Castle.

Our theme this year are Agincourt and we have a packed programme of events including talks, film, theatre, workshops, pop up museum and guided tours.
We start with a guided tour of medieval Hay on Friday at 11am, followed by a screening of Henry V at Booth’s Cinema at 5pm and then a talk by Armourer specialist Bob Woosnam-Savage in the Castle at 8pm.

Saturday sees medieval crafts, calligraphy, theatre workshops and a performance of Henry V by Hay Theatre Company in the Castle grounds. In the evening we have a talk by Prof Anne Curry about Agincourt.

Sunday is centered around our annual Pop-Up Museum where local historian Eric Pugh will be displaying some of his extensive photograph collection of historical Hay. We will also be asking people to bring in any items they would like to show and discuss and also bring along some memories of the Castle through the years. Continue reading

The Tudors, Raglan castle, 24th May 2015

Join us for our Tudor weekend, where we will be celebrating this most infamous of Royal dynasties which has it’s roots firmly in Wales. The event promises to be a fun packed weekend which will have all things Tudor, Wars of the Roses historical re-enactment, see our very own Henry Tudor crowned King (who was brought up at Raglan Castle), combat, costume and manners, a fun horseless joust and much more! There will be plenty to keep the kids entertained, splat the plague rat, have a go archery and a meet the Tudors trail. There will be onsite refreshments, plus a hog roast and a Tudor tavern. Henry VIII will be here too together with one of his Beefeaters and both of his executioners, so beware!


Adults £4.50, Family ticket £13.50 (2 adults and all children 15 and under), Under 5’s free, Concessions £3.40 (Students with ID, Over 60’s and children from 5 to 15), Disabled persons and companion come in for free. Please remember you may use your English Heritage, Manx Heritage and Historic Scotland memberships in all Cadw sites (Details of your entitlements should be on the rear of your membership cards).
