Ross town council is pleased once again to be bringing the free series of summer concert back to the Bandstand. 2017 was an excellent year and saw the introduction of a more varied selection of bands.
This Year is no exception, with the introduction of a swing band which we hope you will all enjoy. the dates have been extended too and will include a proms style event to rival the Albert hall.
This years concerts start on the 20th May with Ross own Town Band so put the date in your Dairy and come join us, bring a picnic basket and make it a full afternoon, even if the weather takes a turn we will still continue so bring an umbrella, the bands will start from 2.30pm to 4.30pm every sunday, with the proms event being held on the 22nd July from 1pm to 8.30pm, so please bring your chairs picnics, hats and flags and your set to have an enjoyable day.

Showcasing more of the towns extraordinary talent is ” Bands on the Bandstand” the free music summer Sunday afternoons funded by Chepstow Town Council, at the truly beautiful venue of the riverside gardens overlooking the River Wye and its graceful 200 year old bridge.
During this years festival you will hear chepstow Voice Choir, the Monmouth Big Band, the Don Fox Scandal a young chepstow band singing funk rock jazz swing and blues all together for an irresistibly dance-able set ( so get your dancing shoes on). Twysted River who took inspiration for their name from the beautiful River Wye, playig an exciting mix of Blues Rock and coming from further afield the FB Pocket Orchestra on the last Sunday of the the festival River Wye bridge celebration afternoon, takes listeners back in time to the hot jazz, blues, ragtime and popular dances of the 1920’s and 30s and even earlier.
In the even more splendid surroundings of the lower courtyard of our majestic medieval castle, enjoying the beauty of being outdoors but with the benefit of the canopy for protection, the Chepstow Music centre showcase in the evening of Sunday 10th July, presents the best of local talent- ensembles and individual performances, including the community orchestra, gospel choir, jazz bands, madrigal and renaissance brass groups.
The castle walls will resound to music of a very different kind, when Chepstow musical youth theatre, seniors, bring Disney camp rock: The musical to town! This new musical, based on the hit Disney channel original movies camp rock and camp rock 2: The final jam opens with Mitchie and her friends arriving at camp rock ready to spend another summer jamming out and having the time of their lives. But the new flashy camp star across the lake now threatens camp rocks very existence. CMYT will be giving three evenings performances and a Saturday matinee from Thursday 14th to Saturday 15th July.

Swansea City Opera, for over 10 years, has a proud history of producing high quality touring opera. Following the successful 2015 tour of Faust Swansea City Opera are bringing the classic opera La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini to 25 small to medium theatres across the UK. The lovely Lion Ballroom in Leominster will be filled with the beautiful sounds of flute and harp during this concert given by flautist Sarah Newbold and harpist Katherine Thomas. Besides playing as a duo under the name Dragonfly, they each have successful orchestral and solo careers. Their varied programme will include much French music of the mid and late Romantic period, a short piece by Haydn, an arrangement by Chopin and Hamilton Harty’s atmospheric ‘In Ireland’.
