Herefordshire tourism has made its marque after unveiling a new visitor logo in an attempt to beef up people’s image of the county.
Visit Herefordshire chose one of the area’s most iconic images, a Hereford Bull, as the figurehead for its new branding. The flexible logos depict a bull with various images including apples, the countryside or a Union Jack inside.
They can vary depending on the business adopting it but all the word Herefordshire with Here in bold print accompanied by one word or phrase such as Invest, Live, Made or You Can.
“The idea came from research carried out by a group called Small Back Room in both in Herefordshire and outside the county in Chester and Middlesex”, said Sally Roberts, lead manager with Visit Herefordshire.
“People were familiar with places such as Ross-on-Wye and Hay-on-Wye and associated the county with a rural scene. But we found a lot of people passed through the area without stopping.”
The marque will be available to anyone who wants to adopt it from the end of this month.
Helping launch the logo at Hampton Court near Leominster was former National Farmer’s Union president Sir Ben Gill, currently Visit Herefordshire chairman. He was accompanied by north Herefordshire MP Bill Wiggin and Hereford bull Ford Abbey One Albert, from nearby Ford Abbey Farm.
A number of county companies also lent their backing to the new marque including Wiggly Wigglers, fruit giant S&A Produce Weston Cider and Wilton Court Restaurant with rooms
Businesses wishing to find out more about how to adopt the iconic marque for their own use can contact Claire O’Reilly at Visit Herefordshire 01432 268430
