Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Pageant Sunday 3rd June 2012

Wilton Court Restaurant with rooms are inviting you to join them to watch the Diamond Jubilee Pageant at highwater on Sunday 3rd June when they will be serving a special Jubilee Sunday lunch 

Full coverage of the Jubilee Pagaent  will be viewed on two large screens in the Mulberry Restaurant. The lunch will commence from 12.00 noon with a welcome pimms and canapes followed by a mouth watering  three course Sunday lunch served from 12.30 onwards.

At high water (midday) up to a thousand boats will muster on the River Thames including Her Majesty The Queen The Duke of Edinburgh and other members of the Royal family on the Royal Barge (The Spirit of Chartwell) all taking part in the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant. It will be one of the largest flotillas ever assembled on the river. Rowed boats, working boats  and pleasure vessels of all shapes and sizes will be beautifully dressed with streamers and Union Flags, their crews and passengers turned out in their finest rigs. The armed forces, fire, police, resuce and other services will be afloat and there will be an exuberance of historic boats, wooden launches, steam vessels and other boats of note.

Representing Herefordshire the Wye Trow will be joining the flotilla which will be boarded by the Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire Lady Darnley and 13 others including oarsmen and women.

The flotilla will be bolstered with passenger boats carrying up to 30.000 flag waving members of the public placed center stage or rather mid river in this floating celebration. The spectacle will be further enhanced with music barges and boats sprouting geysers. There will also be specially constructed elements such as floating belfry, its chiming bells answered by those from riverbank churches. Downriver of London Bridge there will be a gun salute and the flotilla will pass through a spectacular avenue of sails made by traditional Thames sailing boats, oyster smacks, square riggers, naval vessels and other impressive ships. Thames piers, riverside roads and bridges will be closed to traffic and there weill be up to 50 big screens distrubted along the rout  to allow members of the public to enjoy the pageant from all possible vantage points.
