Get into the summer festival vibe early with this really good evening; ‘Heed the Thunder’ are a folk group who are well-respected around the Herefordshire folk scene, and have been making music around fires and in folk clubs for about five years. They may also have a youth band supporting them too! Alex Gordon (acoustic guitar, singing) first came to prominence in London based Alt-Country act Lincoln in the late 90’s. Kate Gathercole (banjo, accordion, singing) and Mark Waters (double bass, singing) are also known for their role in celebrated psych-folk band ‘Sproatly Smith’. Nik Acons sometimes joins the band on fiddle, along with Matt Dowse (trombone) and Crum Hall (drums). Releases include “All Those Black Years” (2012) and the “Heed the Thunder & Mark Stevenson” – recorded with Ledbury folk legend Mark Stevenson in 2013. Both these releases have gained critical acclaim. Check out their website for more details, www.heedthethunder.com/ to hear snatches of their latest album
