In the Year of the Orchard, the Flavours of Herefordshire Food Festival returns to Hereford Race Course for the weekend of Saturday, 22nd October and Sunday 23rd October, 2011.The Chef-in-Residence will be Jean-Christophe Novelli, who will be demonstrating his skills in the Food Theatre each day. Dubbed ‘the nation’s favourite French Chef’, his career started aged 14 as a baker in his home town of Arras, moving to Paris as the private chef of Elie de Rothschild and then to Keith Floyd’s pub the Maltsters in Devon.Jean-Christophe opened several London restaurants and one in Cape Town & Normandy, winning 4 consecutive Michelin stars along the way.He has featured in most of television’s culinary programmes, was Chef Consultant on Sea France Ferries and teaches at the Novelli Academy, based in his Hertfordshire home and rapidly voted amongst the ‘Top 25 Cookery Schools in the World’.During the festival, you will also be able to watch not only Jean-Christophe Novelli, but also some of our finest local chefs showing off their culinary skills, including our 2011 Young Chef winners from the Flavours of Herefordshire Awards. This year’s festival will take more of an informative theme with many more demonstrations and talks throughout the weekend.

The food Pavilion showcases over 70 independent food and drink producers who rear, grow or make food with taste. The Farmers’ Market is piled high with the best of local fruit and vegetables, jams and pickles. An opportunity not to be missed!  Sample and buy produce from the county direct from our finest food and drink suppliers.There are cookery presentations, face painting and lots of fun for children. Tastes of this and that, plenty of hot food to eat during the day also plenty of tables to enjoy a warming drink in the sunshine. Honeys, cakes, wines and ciders, beef, lamb and port, there is so much to choose from.
